Our chapter has had an exciting time giving back to the community. It happens all the time! Junior Ciaran McCarthy, recently announced Scholar of the Month, has a weekly group of Scholars who travel to Hope Food Center in Urbana, Illinois. They give back by packing 60-120 bags that are filled with soup cans, cereal, macaroni and cheese, and toilet paper that they give back to the community. Every Monday these Scholars do so much for others. Thank you to Ciaran for being a leader and showing the value of community!
That's not the only way we give back! Two weeks ago, our Scholars headed to Mahomet, Illinois, to participate in our annual Polar Plunge. Scholars jumped into a freezing cold lake to support the Special Olympics, which provides olympics for people with intellectual disabilities, and raised $2,700 preparing for it. Freshman Marco Torres raised the most out of the whole chapter! Thank you to all who participated!
Our chapter is always giving back and we love to reward them for it. Every Monday night we have Monday Funday, where Scholars come together after a long hard Monday to enjoy some type of snack while they study/relax. We always try to throw something new at them for them to enjoy. We appreciate all the hard work they do throughout the year, but most of all that they do it together!
