The Evans Scholarship Chapter at the University of Illinois, founded as the Foundation’s Beta chapter in 1951, currently houses more than 120 students. The largest of the Program’s 14 chapters, it is the "flagship chapter." More than 90 percent of Scholars graduate from college in four years.
Inside the House, Scholars live under one roof as part of a unique community, working together and governing themselves. Seniors mentor freshmen and all members take part in service activities, including hosting blood drives and holiday parties for underprivileged children.
But the Scholarship offers more than a four-year experience: upon graduation, students become part of the Evans Scholars Alumni Association, which provides networking and social opportunities in the professional world.
The current Illinois House was dedicated in 2002.
